Paris ISD Teacher named Region 8 Teacher of the Year

Paris ISD is proud to announce that Brent Wilburn, a dedicated educator at Paris High School, has been named the Secondary Teacher of the Year for Region 8. He will now move forward as the regional nominee for the 2026 Texas Education Agency (TEA) Teacher of the Year.
Mr. Wilburn will represent Region 8 alongside 38 of the top educators from across Texas. From there, six finalists will be invited to Austin for interviews, and one will be selected as the Texas Secondary Teacher of the Year, serving as a traveling ambassador for public education.
This recognition continues Paris ISD’s strong tradition of excellence in education. Since 1989, 27 Paris ISD educators have earned the title of Regional Teacher of the Year. The district has also celebrated six state finalists and one Texas Teacher of the Year.
