For the third consecutive year, Justiss Elementary’s beloved custodian, David Harris, brought the spirit of Christmas to life by ensuring every student at the school received a special holiday gift. What began as a simple vision has grown into a meaningful annual tradition that continues to touch the hearts of students, staff, and the greater community.
Mr. Harris once again took the initiative to personally visit local businesses and connect with community members to gather donations that would make his Christmas mission possible. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of community partners and Justiss staff members, Mr. Harris was able to provide even more gifts to students this year than ever before.
Following the school’s annual Christmas Sing-a-Long, students gathered in the cafeteria by class, where Mr. Harris—dressed as Santa Claus and accompanied by his trusty elves—personally handed a gift to each Justiss student. The moment allowed every child to share in the excitement and experience the joy of the season together. A team of dedicated “elves,” made up of staff and volunteers, assisted with shopping, organizing, wrapping, and coordinating the surprise.
Justiss Principal Dustin Smyers praised Mr. Harris’s dedication and consistency, saying, “David Harris exemplifies what it means to serve others. For three years now, he has gone above and beyond to make sure our students feel loved and valued during the holiday season. His kindness leaves a lasting impact on our campus, and we are incredibly grateful for his heart for our kids.”
Mr. Harris’s continued efforts serve as a powerful reminder of the impact one person can make through compassion and generosity. His commitment to spreading joy reflects the true meaning of the season and highlights the strong sense of community that defines Justiss Elementary.
